Yesterday in our Careers course, the speaker, a headhunter who was brought in to teach our class skills in negotiation, told us that as women, we should know that whatever offer we receive, it will inevitably have been higher if we were men.
This sobering "fact" was a bit upsetting to me, so last night, while having a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau, I decided to do some research on negotiation tips for women. I stumbled upon this excellent interview with Chelsea Handler, queen of American late-night talk shows, being interviewed by FORTUNE Editor at Large, Patti Sellers, about her advice on the matter. She says simply, “you have to ask for what you want... and then you get it.”
Her advice is so simple, yet so hard. My issue at the moment is that I don’t know exactly what I want or where I want to go in life… but that, my friends, is the subject for another post.

Baby girl, you are so loved and so talented, you don't need to worry about where you're going to go right now or how you're going to get there. People who need special folks that can produce will spot you in a heartbeat. I promise :)
